American Nightmare Road Trip

This is a work in progress.  As I find more info, I will update this post.  If you have info you'd like to include, email me at redx1134@gmail.com with a subject line of 'American Nightmare Road Trip' so I don't delete it without reading.  Thanks ahead of time for any info.

For American Nightmare, Alan Wake's locations are moved to 'Night Springs' in Arizona as an episode of he wrote for the show is played out while Alan flexes his writing chops in the Dark Place to figure out how to write his way out.  It's set as being on the edge of small Route 66 city or town across 3 primary locations.  There's a few other details outside of these locations like the saguaro cacti that call other locations in the state that aren't along Route 66.

First Act:

Desert Shore Motel:
Sea & Sun Lodges - On Desert Shores Drive in California, apparently it is an actual nightmare to stay here.  Still need to head out to see what it looks like in person and if it's remotely similar to the one in the game.

But, what I'm looking for is a 60s style roadside motel popular along Route 66 when they were built co-located with a gas station, a mechanic shop and a diner.  Bonus points for proximity to abandoned gold mines and oil towers.

Vulture Gold Mine

Second Act:

Mt Redtooth National Observatory

Some have compared it to Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff.  The exterior to me looks more like Kitt Peak observatory.
I think that makes more sense too in regards to the Saguaro cactus since I haven't seen them up far enough north to be by Route 66.

Third Act:
Night Springs Drive-In Theater

By a power plant?  Um....

Alan Wake Road Trip

Actual locations that inspired places in game.

This is a work in progress, sites along the trip include (from South to North):

Crater Lake/Crater Lake Lodge
Covered Bridge at Trout Lake Farms
Westport/Cathlamet Ferry
Ilwaco Ocean Fresh Crab & Seafood
North Head Lighthouse
Twede's Diner
Twin Falls
Still sorting through fire lookouts for any that appear the most similar to any in the game:

Snoqualmie Log Pavilion
Snoqualmie Falls

Index and Skykomish are both small towns about the size of Bright Falls

Index
Skykomish
Gorge Powerhouse
Diablo Dam
Diablo Overlook

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Things to add yet: Spinning bridge, Church, Ghost Towns, Mine, Abandoned Mill, Specific style cabins, large logging camps, Tree Age Ring. Probably other things, will need to play through the game again to identify.

Hind sight, probably makes more sense to start in Canada and end at Crater Lake.
